I don't know what exactly was the culprit but when I left the hospital the second time I noticed that even though I could see my books up close, I couldn't really see things farther away anymore. I headed right for my eye doctor and he let me know that sometimes when a person goes through a major “fight for your life” type situation that lasts up to a year like mine, the body will loose some function in the eyes for a period of time due to strain or lack of nutrients but it often comes back as you become stronger.
I had lasik eye surgery about 8 years ago and fortunately everything from that surgery looked great so I should be back to 20/20 in a few years as the rest of my body heals but in the mean time, I was really excited to get new glasses.
I had had bad vision when I was a kid and loved being a glasses wearer. The feeling of picking out a new pair, rocking them at school the next day. I've always been a book worm so the look suits me but I think glasses look great on most people, as long as you know how to pick them.
On that note, get ready, I'm about to tell you my secret for picking out the best looking pair of glasses for your face every time. Lots of people have computer programs or charts for the shape of your face to match the shape of the glasses, or something like that but I've never found those to work. This is the best method I've found and I always get compliments on my glasses and I never have to worry about my face shape etc.
I find that the easiest and best way to pick out your best pair of glasses is to actually go to a glasses supplier. I say supplier because you want somewhere with the biggest selection possible and that might not be your eye doctor. Look around on the internet or even ask at the front desk as you're leaving, most eye doctors will give you your prescription and let you know the local place with the biggest selection and lowest prices. Before you get to your supplier, check your budget and when you first walk in, find out if any walls of glasses are out of your budget range so you can avoid them.
When you arrive, this system is your holy grail. It's going to work kind of like a tournament bracket for your best pair of glasses.
- Grab 2 pairs of glasses and try them both on and decide right away which one to keep and which one to put back. Don't pick that pair up again. It's already out and if you didn't like it then you won't like it later.
- Keep the winning pair from the first round and grab another pair that you like. Try them both on and decide which of those two to keep. It might be the pair you liked at first, or you might have found a pair you like better. Either way, don't go back to the one you put down. Think of those as cheaters, drop them and don't look back.
- Take the winning pair from that round and compare them to another pair from the wall that you think you might like and see which pair is the winner for that round.
- After a few times doing this you will probably have been holding one great pair in your hand for a few round, comparing it to other pairs and seeing just how perfect they are. Those are the ones.
Congrats! Get those puppies cut and fit to you and you're all set.
The best way to use these sites is to measure your own beloved glasses like I've shown in the picture and compare them to those in the website pic then choose a frame close to one you loved in the store. I wouldn't recommend trying something crazy just because they're free because you are going to be paying shipping but if that's your style, then go for it!
Happy hunting! And be sure to post some pics of your sexy new specs in the comments section below!
