When living with chronic pain, illness, infertility, joblessness, depression, any issue you might be having, it can so often feel we climb one mountain only to find out that was just a peak and we're nowhere near the top.
One of the hardest things in life and in that process is taking a moment to enjoy the view from where we are instead of looking up at the seemingly unending climb left to go. When we focus on our achievements, on our happinesses, our joys and triumphs, there will be more of the same in our lives.
The universe, God, the collective soul, the world, whatever each of us calls this energy and love that drives us forward, that gives with one hand and might take with the other is only a collection of our perceptions of things. When we are able to look at a situation and say, Thank You, there will be more to thank God for. There will be more to thank the universe for. There will be more to thank our friends and family for.
One of my favorite television characters is Amy Poehler's Leslie Knope and one of my favorite speeches her character ever gives is this one,
First of all, Thank You.
In my time here I want to focus on your hopes, and not your fears.
I want to solve problems instead of creating friction.
I owe this victory, all of it, to my friends and my supporters.
I've learned this lesson over and over again but it bears repeating, No one achieves anything alone.
So let's embark on a new journey together.
Let's break out a map.
Not the old, out-of-date one that shows where we've been, but a crisp new one that shows where we might go.
Let's embark on a new journey together.
And see where it takes us.
I am embarking on a very long week of doctors appointments and I don't know how often if at all I'll have the opportunity to write to you all and speak with you and be here on the blog but whenever you are going through tough time this week, I hope you take a moment to come back to this entry, read this speech, and apply it to your life, and feel comfort and joy and the power to break out a new map in your life and decide where you want to go, where you deserve to go. And say it out loud to yourself.
This week I deserve to have caring caretakers, to have loving and lovely dinners with my husband, to live, to love, and to be surrounded by support from the people I care about. I deserve to be a beacon for positivity and love and to have that returned back to me tenfold.
And so do you
Lots of Love,
